2017 NEWCA Conference

"Writing in the Margins: Language, Labor, and Class"

April 1-2 at Pace University in Pleasantville, NY

Themes: In writing center work, we are constantly negotiating multiple classes (academic and socio-economic) and performing various forms of labor. As tutors and administrators, we seek to assist students in recognizing their own capacity for authority and voice in the language they use.

This year’s NEWCA conference calls for writing center tutors, administrators and practitioners to consider how writing centers, individually and collectively, address the practical and theoretical categories of class and labor, along with the language we use to define and confront them.
